Segment One-HOMESCHOOL INFO

Segment One is the class you take anytime after you turn 14 years, 8 months old. It includes at least 24 hours of classroom time, at least 6 hours of behind the wheel driving and at least 4 hours of driving observation. We generally recommend students take drivers education as soon as they are eligible so they can have as much time on their permit to PRACTICE as possible. This is especially important in Michigan as we have 4 very distinct seasons that present different driving challenges. We offer classes all year long. Segment 1 is currently $520.

We have hosted dozens of homeschool classes over the years, serving 100's of homeschool families!

Here is how a Segment One Homeschool class would work:

1) A parent (like YOU) would have the idea for their student to take driver's ed during the day to accommodate their busy homeschooling schedule.

​

2) You would talk to some parents with students who are looking to take Segment One. REMINDER: students must be at least 14 years, 8 months old by the first day of class.

​

3) Email us once you settle on some times, days, and dates that work for your family/families​ that conform to the following guidelines:

a) The class must take place sometime between September and May.

b) The class is typically 2 hours per day.

c) There must be at least 13 sessions (12 Classes + Test Day).

d) Classes must be Monday-Friday.

e) Class time must be between 8am & 3pm (earliest start time = 8am & latest start time = 1pm).

f) Class must span at least 3 weeks. (Examples=Monday-Thursday for 3 weeks; Monday-Wednesday for 4 weeks; Monday & Wednesday for 6 weeks; etc.)

4) We will let you know if the proposed times/dates work for our staff. If it doesn't, we will work with you to suggest alternatives.

5) We post the class on our website and people can register.

​

6) If at least 6 students register via your word of mouth/network and our website, the class is a GO! We might have to cap the number of students based on our staffing availability.
